McIntyre Beach Pt 2

I had made pizza dough to take with us plus all the fixings to make Moroccan Lamb pizza and a few other variations...
I portioned the dough out...
~
I left it to proof on the shelf.  What a view out the front window!
Lamb spiced with paprika, cumin and coriander...
~
The first pizza was spread with tzatziki dip and topped with lamb strips, pumpkin, roasted capsicum, red onion, cherry tomatoes and mango and a shaving of parmesan cheese...
Someone nibbled it before I could take a picture!  I crumbled fetta over it after it was cooked...
The second one was spread with barbecue sauce with lamb, tomatoes, onion and mango...
Watching bush TV...
With the storm coming in, we were inundated with little bugs or flies and a few mosquitoes.  We sprayed and this was the result!  Yuck!
Time for a port and a coffee then off to bed.  We were awoken at 3.05am to gale fore winds battering our camper.  We got up and had to let down one awing that was on the wind side and just hoped the other one stood up to the winds.  The wind just kept up until daylight.  It made packing up very hard.
We had a nice breakfast, snugged up in the camper but then we had to brave the strong winds and get Pearl packed up.  Typical - it rained 10 minutes before we were ready to flip her over and pack her down!  Grrr!  We finally got packed and on our way by 10am but it was still so windy.
We got out of McIntyre's beach then faced the small hurdle of a large sandhill that we had to go up...
Ruby by herself has no trouble with this hill but towing a camper is entirely different.  Anyway, she made it up without stopping so we were very pleased.  Gus is thrilled with how the Ultimate Xplor tows along in the sand.  I do have video of us going up the hill so I will try and get it loaded up...
We made our way home and then unpacked Pearl later in the afternoon to dry out the canvas.  A quick vacuum and she's ready to roll again.  Not sure where our next adventure is to...

McIntrye Beach

The weather was fine on Saturday so we packed up and headed for McIntyre Beach which is only about 30 minutes away...
Through the dunes...there were even some wildflowers out...
~
~
~
The track into McIntyre's...
Every time we go there, we hope no one has nabbed the spot before us...there was a car there so we thought we might be out of luck...but they were just there for a visit.  Phew!
How pretty is that?
~
~
Gus had a front tow hitch bracket fitted to Ruby so we can manoeuvre Pearl into place...
It works a treat!
Such a pretty beach...pity you can't swim here.  The undercurrent and rips are treacherous!
We had the pig set up ready to go...
Up on this sand hill is the only place you can get phone reception.  Not a bad camp spot, eh?
The piglet, ready to fire up!
There was lots of rubbish on the beach when I went for a walk...
~
So much plastic and crap, it really is sad...
Bird skeleton...
~
~
No pretty sunset tonight, there is a storm brewing...
Leave only footprints...
Someone looks very relaxed!
Time to choose a nice wine...
~
Kick back and relax...

Pt 2 coming up...

Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations...

Last Friday 14/10/16 we headed over to Penola for the Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations.  Over the month of October, the wineries have different events on.  We were supposed to do the Retrospective Tasting at Hollick but we just couldn't get there in time due to work commitments
 ~

But we made it for dinner ...
~

~

~

We enjoyed some lovely wines with the meal...then it was time to call a taxi
and head back to Pearl at the Penola Caravan Park.
 ~

Time to warm our toes and have a cuppa before retiring...
~

They have nice lawned and paved sites and we had an ensuite...
~

Next morning it was an early start to get to breakfast at Balnaves Wines.  We had Sparkling Shiraz with our breakfast!
~

Smoked salmon quiche, sausage, field mushrooms on sourdough and creamed avocado and cherry toms...
~

This was just part of the crowd, seated in the winery...
~

After breakfast, we tottered off to Redman wines and tasted a few there...
~

Then on to Wynns Winery...more tasting...
~

~

Finally we landed at Majella Wines where they had their past 10 vintages up for tasting....

We spent the next few hours here, sitting with friends and tasting the wines, down the line...just little tastes!
~

We had lunch which was either pulled pork rolls with coleslaw or hot dogs. $5 each.
~

We again caught a taxi back to the caravan park and got some nibbles out for Happy Hour!  Gus got the pig ready to light...
~

We we sat around watching the bush TV for a while...
~

Dinner was barbecued lamb cutlets, cooked by Gus and a tossed salad that I'd made the day before and packed in a plastic container and baked spuds.  Very easy`- which was good because I was very tired by then!   :)
~

Sunday breakfast was very easy - tea/coffee, toast with vegemite and jam, juice.  It was pouring with rain so we had to pack Pearl up wet.  Poor Gus got drenched!
By 1.30pm, we were on our way to Adelaide as we had 2 cars to deliver on Monday.  No rest for the wicked!

Next trip is this coming weekend...to the beach!
